Making The Most Of eZines And Newsletters
According to Beka Ruse, "The concept of the follow up autoresponder revolutionized Internet Marketing. Now, "Auto Message Setup" promises to bring the field an even greater degree of efficiency. This recent innovation lets experienced marketers painlessly transfer marketing know-how to their entire downlines. A marketer can now provide each of his downline representatives with a follow up autoresponse system that is already packaged with the marketer's pre-written messages. The result? Just a few minutes of work on the part of an experienced marketer, and each of his reps is set up with the same tried and true marketing messages."
One of the most effective ways of using an autoresponder is by having it as a newsletter/zine. You can sign up subscribers through a form. They enter their information and are in your system. You then send out your message at an appropriate time to your opt-in audience.
Newsletters are a great way to create more traffic for your web site, but you need to know the right way to go about it before you get in over your head.
If you don't have the time or creative mind to come up with a newsletter or ezine consistently or you are just starting up and need to focus more time on other aspects of your business, you may want to consider paying for placing your ad in someone else's ezine or newsletter. Just make sure there is an audience that actually reads it and it is related to your product. Sure it will cost you to advertise in this manner, but you do not have to deal with the other issues of maintaining a list.
Of course the money is in creating your own list. Not everyone is prepared to handle the responsibilities or the expense involved thinking all they must do is throw up some script and get people to sign up. It is a bit more to it than that.
You will need a reliable software or source to handle your list. Aweber tends to be one of the least expensive and more reliable ones around.
When you have a service like Aweber, be sure you have a double opt-in where the person who subscribes has to verify it by clicking on a link in their e-mail. This prevents you from being accused of spam.
Also be sure in all your correspondence you have opt-out information including a link to unsubscribe.
To get people to subscribe to your list will take some effort on your part. An easy way to do that is by traffic exchange programs. Create a squeeze page with a valuable free offer if they sign up for your newsletter. Then have something of real value to give them when they sign up. Warning, if you do not give them a freebie or if your freebie is garbage, you will get most of your sign ups unsubscribed within 24 hours.
You want your list to remember you, but you don't want to be obnoxious about it. Offer a once a week or maybe even once every two week newsletter. Any more than that may be considered an annoyance. Any less will run you the risk of being forgotten.
And when you do put out your newsletter, make sure it is useful. People get tons of offers to consider in their inbox daily. If you offer more of the same, the reader will rethink why they signed up for it and most likely will unsubscribe. Keep your newsletter original, fresh and exciting. It would be better to send out fewer high quality newsletters than dozens of thrown together wads of articles republished everywhere.
When you have a list, don't abuse it. If you are using this list to eventually sell a product, make sure you absolutely can stand behind it. Your trusting list may trust you once, but your heaping praise on a product that is less than worthy will cause you a credibility issue. If you lose your credibility with your list, it will be harder to make the next sale. It may even cost you your list over time.
Do the right thing, make sure you sell only what you believe in. It makes no sense to go through hoops to create a big list only to blow all that hard work with a few bad products making you start the rebuilding process over again.
Unless you can create a successful list with a good newsletter, you may be less than satisfied with the results which can be costly. It can cost more money than a beginner is willing to shell out, but a good plan in action will make that cost well worth the effort.
