What Do You Have To Offer? What Is Your Vision?
Most people who put up website do so with the idea to make money from it if they can figure out how. That is the essence of the problem of most websites. There is no clear vision before putting up the website. People just scramble to throw up some banners, borrow scripts from other sites, re-use stale content, put up fancy tricks which serve no purpose and hope this will pass.
In order to have a vision, you need to set up a basic business plan much as you would a brick and mortar business. What do you plan to accomplish with the site? What do you have to offer your audience? What's in it for your audience to do business with YOU as opposed to your competition?
Other aspects of the vision include how will your website look? What type of content will be on your website? How interactive will your website be? Will you be easily accessible to your audience?
If you just have a personal website and making money from it is not an issue, you still need a vision for your site if you are expecting an audience and favorable reaction.
With a site that is earmarked to be your money maker, you need more in depth forethought on what your site is about to make it profitable.
Unless you have an already established business on the outside and your web site is merely an extended business card/brochure, you have to approach your business model in an entirely different manner.
If you are creating a home-based business from scratch to use exclusively for the world at large, you need to take a slightly different approach when you think of coming to the web.
