Where to Find Free Scripts for Your Web Site
If you are a beginner, you haven't had much time to really learn how to do the coding of some of the really cool tricks to put on your site, but you would like to add them anyway. Or maybe you have been around for awhile, but don't have time to think through something and want it now.
Part of the fun for a surfer is to have interactive things on a web site and much of this interaction can come through java scripts, php scripts, cgi scripts or done in Visual Basic or the many other coding languages available. It is hard to really have an all-around resource for everything available because there are just so many possibilities. Besides these things require some customization to your specific site's needs.
What can these scripts do? Almost anything. There are scripts for games, message boards, chatrooms, classified ads, auctions, and so forth. What would your audience be interested in? Find a script that is particularly useful for your niche audience which they will love to interact with your site and you will find a regular attendee at your site.
When looking for a script, it helps if you know exactly what you need and how it will be used. Then keep in mind your web host and what it can handle. It would make no sense in working hard on a cgi script if your host cannot process it or to do a VB script on a host using Linux.
There are many free scripts out there, but sometimes you have to read the small print that requires a donation, a link back, or at least keeping the acknowledgement in the scripting code. There are also a lot of scripts available where you might have to pay to use it or pay to have someone install it for you. If you are totally clueless and want a cool script, it doesn't hurt to have it professional installed for you, just make sure it is something that can be useful and be installed in your host computer before you pay for this installation.
