Free Web Design/Web Programming Help
Welcome to Web Programming Lounge for free help and references in web design. You might be wondering what's the catch, a site that offers free information for webmasters. Well, actually there's none. Sure there's a bit of ads to put up with to support this site, but it serves as a free web design reference for you and a school project/portfolio for me.
I am a second year student in web design and web programming at Rasmussen College, but I have been designing web sites since 1998, see the JCE Enterprises related sites below to see the other web sites I have done. I have seen many trends come and go in all this time and I wanted to put something out in the vast stream of web pages for the beginners. There are many web sites out there for anyone to learn about web design. This is mostly for those new to the business and want to get started now without having to shell out a lot of money for bad advice.

What is Web Design?
Web design is the overall package of creating a web site which includes the content, the look, the purpose, and the technology used in its function. By bringing all of these elements together coherently, one can say they are designing a web site.
While anyone can learn some simple HTML/XHTML and put up a few pages, it does not necessarily mean they are a web designer. There is a correct technology behind the concept of web design which includes elements of learning proper style formats, proper web design coding, and other elements in web programming.
What is Web Programming?
Web programming gives your web site an interactive edge. Instead of static sites which simply present information, web programming allows a web site to do more such as saving and storing information and databases, creating forms to contact someone or send information, making games, bulletin boards, chat rooms and so forth.
Web Programming is part of the umbrella term of computer programming. Web programming languages are strictly for creating scripts to use on the web. Traditional computer languages can be used on the web, on a computer, or any device that has a computer chip, depending on which language is used.
